The course is designed to expose students to some basic issues in Nigerian Government and Politics. It takes a historical look at the formation of the Nigerian State, especially the exogenous character of forces that birthed the state in 1960, and which contributed in shaping the nature, process and pattern of Post-Colonial Politics. Pertinent issues addressed by the course include the structure of government, the rise and fall of different republics, phenomenon of the military in politics, elections and electoral system, democratization, local government administration and revenue allocation. All these topical issues could be summed up in the concept of the National Questions which are still burning among theorists and administrators of government alike.
